The
Carpenters Legacy Lives On...

A
Song For You - Comments:
Now
if you just read my comments on the Carpenters self-titled album,
I started off by saying "Woah! Look at all the great Carpenters
songs. Well, I could have started my comments here the same way.
I mean look at all these great Carpenters songs on the "A
Song For You" album.
My
favorite songs on this album are "Top of the World",
"Hurting Each Other", "Goodbye To Love", and
"Bless the Beasts and the Children".
"Top
of the World" would rank as one of my favorite Carpenters
songs. The song was co-written by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis,
and became another number one hit.
"Goodbye
To Love" was considered a unique Carpenters song because
it added a Rock n Roll element, with an electric guitar solo,
performed by newly added Carpenters band member, Tony Peluso.
"Piano
Picker" is another one of my favorite songs where Richard
Carpenter takes the lead vocal. Richard performed this song on
the television shows "Robert Young with the Young" and
also on the Carpenters "Space Encounters" TV Special.
