The
Carpenters Legacy Lives On...
Passage
Information/Comments:
"Passage",
was released in 1977. This album was an attempt by the Carpenters
to reach out into new "musical" territory with certain
songs on this album. My favorite songs on "Passage"
are "All You Get From Love Is A Love Song", "Sweet,
Sweet Smile" and "Calling Occupants Of Interplanetary
Craft".
Probably
most people know about Ann Murray's verson of the song "I
Just Fall in Love Again" but I think Karen Carpenter
easily holds her own with the Carpenters own verion of this
wonderful song.
"Sweet,
Sweet, Smile" is another one of my favorite "upbeat"
Carpenters songs. I especially enjoy this song being sung
at the beginning of the Carpenters "Space Encounters"
TV special.
I
know that many Carpenters fans have written that they don't
really like "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft",
but I really like it because it is a different sounding song.
Tony Peluso, Carpenters guitarist, makes a cameo as the voice-over
DJ at the beginning of the song.
