The
Carpenters Legacy Lives On...

Sing
Sing
/ Druscilla Penny - single:
I
originally thought that the Carpenters heard the song "Sing"
from Sesame Street. Apparantly though, the first time both Karen
and Richard heard the classic Joe Raposo song was on the set of
the ABC Television Special "Robert Young With The Young"
in 1973.
The
Carpenters rendition of "Sing" is in my opinion the
best version I've ever heard of this wonderful song. It's such
a great rendition that even the folks at Sesame Street thought
it was good enough to be on one of their own Sesame Street albums.
I also know that Karen Carpenter was a big fan of Sesame Street
itself because she mentioned it on-stage in the TV concert the
Carpenters did in Holland.
From
what I understand, the Carpenters never actually appeared on Sesame
Street or the Muppet Show, but that would have been neat.
