"I Need To Be In Love" was a bit autobiographical on the part of Karen and Bettis, with their lack of any lasting romatic relationships at that time. I especially like the very rare Carpenters music video to "I need to Be In Love" because the video sort of has a message that even if you don't ever find your perfect mate, that's ok, you can still be happy, and life does go on.
